A Madame X Dorcel collaboration
Trained as an actress and set designer based in France, Madame soon turned her hand to the plastic arts, sculpting, painting, and then gradually to collage, which she has been creating for 15 years now. This talented artist also defines herself as a craftsman of materials, using period materials, generally dating from 1800 to 1920-1930, to combine them with more contemporary words that resonate with our times.
These elements of old iconography - engravings, photos, drawings and materials - interact with the texts, opening up a whole new world of possibilities. "I always try to create a kind of hiatus between the two so that everyone's imagination can take over and develop the possible meanings of the image," explains the artist, whose work can be seen in Paris galleries as well as on walls in France, Peru, India and Italy.
