Je suis Sofia

I am Sofia, sounds like an affirmation. The story is told from the inside, close to the characters. Céline the screenwriter invites us to experience the gender transition of the eldest child in a Catholic family in Rome. In 1996, Céline is an au pair in Rome and takes care of two little Italian boys: Edoardo 5 years and Amedeo 18 months.

21 years later, she went to find them... the little bambini must have grown up! Céline doesn't know anything about it. When she arrives at the airport, she is introduced to Sofia. But who is Sofia? And then, in the blink of an eye, she recognizes Edoardo in Sofia's feminine features. The shock. Sofia has just come out as transgender. Céline shares a weekend with the whole family. She will return in 2019 after Sofia's operation in Thailand for the Male to Female transition. It is at this moment that Sofia wants to confide in us and tell us all about her emotions and her body. Her brother Amedeo and her parents accompany her as best they can, each with their own open mind. It is disturbingly true. Sofia waited until she was 26 to dare to talk about her desire to transition.
